This is not the first time that the issue has been raised. To satisfy their weird whims people go for exotic pets who lend up in the streets after some time. People forget that exotic pets too need commitment just like other pets rather loads of it.
Animal activists have joined hands to make banning exotic pets a reality by tightening the existing rules which is full of loopholes allowing severe atrocity on animals. Strict guidelines must be formulated and implemented making strict rules on what animals can be kept as pets and making it more comprehensive. The Bill will be put to table next year.
One can easily find exotic pets, even a tiger cub, on the net. But there are many resisting the bill.
“I think that if you have the space and you have the money and you have the knowledge, then you should be able to keep what you want to keep,” said Holli Friedland of Baltimore, who works with a reptile and amphibian rescue group and has opposed the exotic pet bill.Exotic pets like monkeys, alligators, big cats and birds need special care from trained owners. Even if you’ll able to take care of your tiger cub, you can’t be sure of his future beastly inclinations. Other animals like monkeys are a source of many deadly diseases too. A complete ban on these animals can only sole the problem. Anyway, the most important issue is that we don’t have any right to snatch their natural abode, especially when they are not at all used to put up with our society and lifestyle.
