Luxurious life lead by dogs is not a rife from this century rather it was a choice of nobles from Marie-Antoinette to Elizabeth II. The love for dogs has always been a source of mockery for great writer like Alexander Pope which can be seen in his famous mock epic ‘The Rape of the Lock’ where he says ‘...Not louder Shrieks to pitying Heav’n are cast, When Husbands, or when Lapdogs breathe their last,... .’ Here Pope finds no difference for grief; a lady would show on her husband’s death or on the death of her lapdog.
Even Silver screen is never left untouched to mock about this love for pets. First, I thought this to be untrue that how can anyone be so obsessed with their pets that they cannot move out without them. But I got a reply to this question when I read an article on International Herald Tribune. The article talks about the luxury enjoyed by dogs as a little fashion statement.
People today prefer to be with their dogs, rather than their fellowmen. They consider dogs to be their best friend and that’s true because dogs are known for their loyalty and companionship. Some dogs can hint you about epileptic fits and you can make all possible arrangements before the fit to make yourself safe. On the other hand, pets can be a social icebreaker. Lazenby, who moved to Manhattan just weeks before 9/11, recollected, “It was very hard to meet people. The whole city was in a depression, and it wasn’t really a social time. I bought the dog because I was so lonely, and she ended up bringing tons of people into my life.”
Not only had this after 20 percent of businesses polled in a survey by the pet products association last spring permitted pets in the workplace dogs are brining in clients for their owner. As Melanie Lazenby, a New York real estate agent, revealed that bringing Eva, her five-pound Chihuahua, to the office has even brought her clients. Recently the owner of a $3.5 million Greenwich Village apartment, even an owner of Chihuahua, gave Lazenby the listing once she saw Eva. So, had you ever thought these profits of keeping a pet.
People are moving towards small dogs that can be easily ported by you. “People like the portability of a small dog,” Friedman said. The number of registration of the Brussels griffon has gone up 231 percent in the last 10 years; Norwich terrier registration has risen 91 percent. Small dogs have more popularity due to our celebrities who walk on red carpet with the toyshop of their Charos, Freddies and Desirees.
People spend extravagantly on their pets as these pets have their own small little house or bed and many dresses. Lewis a resident of New York told that her Paige (dog’s name) own forty outfits, among them a Hermes coat... Amazing, I think a poor man does not have even one to change. It’s not only this lady but there are many people around the globe who spend lavishly on the luxury of their pets but do not donate a single penny to a needy.
Keeping in mind the love for pets, even hotels and restaurants have no objection regarding these portable dogs. Rebecca Rand, a spokesperson for the W hotel chain, which offers a canine-friendly Woof program, said guests traveling with small dogs have become a vital trend. “People are treating them more like family, so we try to accommodate them as much as possible,” she said.
I think all the poor would wish to take rebirth as dogs to enjoy the riches of life in the lap of some millionaire.

Hello to all pets lovers! I’m french and you all probably know that France has the largest number of dogs and cats (7-8 and 9 millions respectively). I’ve got myself 11 cats and 2 dogs and some fish. One of my dog is a chihuahua and when I got him 5 years ago, my vet told me not to dress him so he would’t get used to it and that with is furr he had enough. In spite of all the love I have for my pets, they’re treated as animals. Dogs are not dolls!!! It’s the best thing we can do for them before they get nut and need a psychologist!!! Leaving them to their animal’s place doesn’t mean we don’t love them, it means respect to them and to Nature!!!!
