Don’t be surprised to know that there are more tigers spending miserable lives in private hands than enjoying there natural abode in Asia. The craze to keep exotic wild pets has crossed all the limits. The bill to ban domestication of exotic animals in Maryland is still in doldrums.

I am sure people are oblivion to the real definition of a pet. We have already gobbled up most of their natural habitat and those animals that are helpless and vulnerable to other dangerous animals, such as dogs and cats, should only be chosen as companions. Actually, keeping a pet is an effort to give them a new life, if not ‘natural life’. But the main aim seems to be self-amusement rather than companionship.

The fact is tigers don’t like us, pythons don’t want us to be around them, alligators want to chew us up, cobras hate us and cheetahs want to sharpen there teeth on our flesh. Why don’t you let them have their bite? Afraid? Don’t tell me. You were not afraid when you snatched away the suckling? The milk tooth wasn’t too big to wet your pants. Isn’t it?

Always keep in mind the huge difference between domesticated animals and exotics. When domesticated wild animals grow old they need companions of their kind. Which is not always possible and even if somehow arranged, it becomes impossible for them to face and adapt to the wilderness. Strict law must be enforced banning exotic pet ownership.
