Natura Pet Products, in an effort to ensure the safety of all its food products has announced a new protocol to be added to its standard 120-point quality control program. This has been introduced with immediate effect and it will test for cyanuric acid.
Natura, however, has not been involved in any of the recent recalls, has pledge to test all the products and make them 100% safe. The call came after the recent reports stating that melamine combined with cyanuric acid has most likely caused the deaths of pets. Natura had been testing it products for melamine contamination.
Cyanuric acid (1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triol, C3H3N3O3) is an organic compound which is commonly used as a water treatment stabilizer. Since, the Menu Foods recall, Natura has made several bold decisions regarding safety of its products. Peter Atkins, the President of Natura, stated, ‘Nothing is more important to us than being able to tell our distributors, retailers and customers with absolute certainty that we are providing them with pet food that is healthy and safe.’
