Owners and handlers of the dogs were tense as they had put lot of efforts for the floor show ahead of the final showdown.

Ana Paula Rasera, 38 from Brazil who had brought her poodle for the competition said:

I’ve been grooming this dog for five hours. But it is really worth all this effort.

A lot of people worldwide raise dogs as a hobby and side-business, investing thousands of dollars in their animals and this show gives them an opportunity to display their animals.

Trejo who also had come with his pet for the event said:

In the long run we might not recoup the investment, but if they are well ranked in these competitions, the quality of the dog is certified and the price of its mating and offspring rises.

The event winners are usually awarded cups and ribbons in place of large cash prizes.
